FCCLA is a co-curricular organization. It is taught in conjunction with Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) classes in schools across the country. Both FCCLA and FACS classes prepare students for success in their families, communities and careers. At Fort Defiance High School, all FACS students are exposed to FCCLA and encouraged to join the organization. Moreover, each FACS class participates in a variety of FCCLA activities to educate students as to the scope of opportunities available in our club.

In February of 2013, four chapter officers attended a legislative day at the General Assembly in Richmond, Virginia. During their day in Richmond, members heard from various lobbyist, spent time observing the House of Delegates in action and met with local legislators to lobby on behalf of Family and Consumer Sciences Education. They also delivered gift bags to the congressmen with information on our FCCLA chapter and FACS program. Click here to view the informational brochure they received.
